A portrait of my belated dear mum. This photograph was taken by myself when we were out having lunch. She has a distant pensive look on her face and I always wondered what she was thinking of in this in moment. The photo was not really of very good quality, but I always kept it on my phone camera roll as I felt it showed the true spirit of who my mum really was. After she passed, I painted her portrait using this photo, I wanted to capture this look she had and so often had throughout our life together, deep in thought, not present and elusive. I wish I had taken more photos of the progression within this painting, as I think it would have been interesting to see the various stages forming and taking shape, especially her skin tones. However, the photos I do have, I have put together in this video clip and I thought it would be interesting to share.
